Disabled Muslim Healed by Jesus Christ

Disabled by typhoid fever as a baby, and wheelchair-bound, a young Pakistani Muslim woman asks Allah to heal her. She visits Mecca, performs religious rites, and prays at Mohammed's tomb in Medina. All to no avail.

At the lowest ebb of her life, she read about Jesus Christ in her Quran, that He healed people, and began to call on Him to heal her. What happened? Christ proved that He is alive, God in the Flesh, full of compassion, mercy, and power. The same yesterday, today, and forever. If you are infirm in any way, read this wonderful account, and your miracle will begin
Jesus asked a man paralysed for 38 years;

Do you want to get well?

And commanded him to do the impossible.

Get up! Pick up your mat, and walk. At once the man was cured, he picked up his mat, and walked.
Holy Bible John 5:6, 8-9 NIV

Those words from God's lips have executive power to work miracles today when believed and obeyed.

Are you helpless, paralysed, disabled, and tired of being a medical guinea-pig?

Do you want to get well?

This remarkable miracle of God will inspire you to believe that what the Lord Jesus Christ said to the lame man: He says to you,

Get up and walk! See, you are well again.
Jn 5:14

London, England, 1966

Young Gulshan Esther was unable to walk, she'd been crippled by typhoid fever as a baby, and confined to a wheelchair all her life. Surgeons had operated to try to obtain mobility in her deformed limbs, but without success.

Her family were devout Shi'ite Muslims, direct descendants of Fatima, daughter of the Prophet Mohammed. A noble lineage that purportedly bestowed automatic right of entry into Paradise upon the Sayed line.

Gulshan was schooled in the tenets of Islam by her father, a highly respected Islamic leader, and prayed five times a day without fail. She wore purdah from the age of seven.
Gulshan's father had flown her from Pakistan especially to obtain the opinion of Doctor David, a London Specialist. After the Medic carefully examined her limp arm and withered leg he gravely pronounced;

"There's no medicine for this: only prayer."

The Specialist's verdict crushed the fourteen year old, who faced a tragic future, never to be whole, hiding behind a veil of shame.

Shaken, but undeterred, her father immediately took the girl on Islam's most sacred pilgrimage to Mecca: the Hajj. Muslims come from around the world to pray at the Ka'aba, "The House of God".

Gulshan's maids lifted her wheelchair onto the Pakistan International Airways flight, and the group settled into First Class, praying for Allah to work a miracle.

They were received at Jeddah by a Sheikh, a friend of the family and wealthy land owner. Father made careful arrangements for the Hajj, ordering two sacrificial lambs for each person to ensure their prayers had special efficacy. Everyone was confident that she would be healed,

"Here where faith is strongest. Where so many prayers are centred, Mohammed will surely ask Allah to heal you."

Gulshan was pushed in her wheelchair from the Hajj Camp and carried by four men around the Ka'aba on a wooden platform. The group performed each of the required rituals with great reverence. The teenager was allowed to kiss the Black Stone, fully expecting to be healed as she did so. She bathed in the "healing waters" of Zam-Zam, and visited Mohammed's Tomb in Medina (where she was given special access to pray for healing.)

During the month long trip, the group also visited Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem and Iraq. However, she was not healed, there was not even the slightest improvement.

God's Word makes the reason clear;

There is one mediator between God and men, the man
Christ Jesus.
1 Tim. 2:5

One mediator. Not Mohammed, not Mary, not Ganesh, nor anybody except the Lord Jesus Christ.

No pope, priest or philosopher can bring you to God. Religion, rites, and rituals are not the way to God.

Jesus said, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
Jn. 14:6

God tells us that salvation is available only through the Name of Jesus.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12

The whole Sayed family were devastated by the ineffectual and expensive pilgrimage. Poor Gulshan was suicidal.

Relatives tried to lift her spirits whilst she continued her religious duties.

Two years later another terrible blow fell, her beloved father died suddenly from acute pneumonia.
It was the lowest point in her life.
She fell into deep despair, and said to herself,

"It is wrong to be alive, a useless cripple like me. Now Father is dead. God, I can't live like this, please take me to Father."

God seemed as far away and silent as ever.
For years she had read the Quran and prayed devotedly, but gradually she lost hope of Allah healing her.

Have you done all the things your religion requires yet still remain sick and burdened? Have you lost hope that God will heal you? Have you spent your money on treatments and doctors, but simply become worse, instead of better?

Then do what Gulshan did, and you will be made completely whole.

Instead of reciting prescribed Muslim prayers in Arabic, she poured out her heart in her native tongue (Urdu).

"What terrible sin have I committed that You have made me like this? I want to die, I don't want to live any longer."

God loves it when we become real, and seek Him with all our heart.

For the first time in her life she heard God reply to her prayer;

"I won't let you die. I will keep you alive. Who gave eyes to the blind, and who made the sick whole, and who healed the lepers, and who raised the dead? I am Jesus, Son of Mary. Read about me in the Quran, in the Sura Maryam."

When God answered, He pointed her to Jesus, not Mohammed. And He was not endorsing the Quran, He was endorsing His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God didn't make Gulshan sick. Sickness and sin come from Satan, not God. Crippling is the devil's work, not God's. God showed us who the author of disease is when He sent Jesus.

Christ healed everyone who came to Him believing.

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, who went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
Acts 10:38

God wants you well; only Satan wants you to suffer. Never forget that!
Whilst the family mourned, Gulshan read avidly about Jesus in the Quran, and began to believe He did miracles, was alive, and that He could heal her.

The Torn Veil
She prayed;

"Oh Jesus, Son of Mary, it says in the Holy Quran that you have raised the dead, healed lepers, and do miracles. So heal me too!"

Did God hear her prayer? Did He care about a heart-broken Muslim girl reaching out to Him?
Does He have compassion for you?

Oh precious hurting soul, listen to God's Word;

Repent and be baptised, everyone of you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins ... The promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jesus) will be saved.
Acts 2:38-39; Rom. 10:13

He longs to help you, but you must call on Him with all your heart.

Notice: Gulshan had never read the Holy Bible. She had never heard the Gospel. She was forbidden from reading the Holy Bible. Her only source of information about Christ was the Quran, which says He was a Prophet of God, and that He healed people. (God wasn't endorsing the Quran, He was endorsing the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son.)

Christians know that Jesus is more than a Prophet. He is Almighty God in the Flesh.

But see how wonderfully He draws hungry souls away from darkness into His glorious light. He's doing the same for you right now. He wants to bless you. He wants to encourage you. He wants to fix your problems. He wants to heal all your infirmities. Only believe!

The Bible says that great crowds came to Jesus;

... bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them.
Mtt. 15:30

Christ healed all of them, no exceptions, no failures. And He's never changed.

Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, and today, and forever.
Heb. 13:8

He is there with you at this moment.

If you have sinned: Christ paid for your sins.
If you are guilty: Christ was punished bearing your guilt.
If you are sick or infirm: Christ took your sicknesses and carried your infirmities.
If you are lost: Christ came to seek and to save the lost.
If you are hurting: Christ suffered your pains.
If you are lonely: Jesus died to be your Friend.

Your debt to God is paid; your sin atoned for, your sickness defeated.
Believe in Jesus: receive Him as Lord and Saviour. Cry out to Him like Gulshan did, and He will confirm His Word to you.

Here's how He responded to this precious Muslim youth, orphaned, weeping, and calling on the Name above all names.

As usual, she awoke at 3 am. and sat up in bed reading verses from the Quran. But in her heart she was pleading,

"Oh Jesus, Son of Maryam, heal me. If you are able, heal me!"

The room filled with God's Glory until it was brighter than daylight. Peeping from under her shawl, she saw twelve people in a row, and a figure in the middle, brighter than the rest. Terrified, she prayed,

"Oh God, who are these people, and how did they come here when the windows and doors are locked?"

The main figure said,

Get up. This is the path you have been seeking. I am Jesus, Son of Mary, to whom you have been praying, and now I am standing in front of you. Get up, and come to me.

Twice she protested that she couldn't because she was a cripple. Twice more, Jesus commanded her to stand up, and come to Him.

Are you, like Gulshan, telling God you can't do what He says you can? Repent, believe God's Word, and obey it.

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Phil. 14:13

Gulshan had been crippled for nineteen years, but as she began to obey Christ, new life surged into her withered limbs. She stood on the ground unaided, and ran to Jesus' feet. He put His hand on her head, and said,

I am Jesus. I am Immanuel. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I am alive, and I am coming soon. See, from today you are my witness.

He said other things, then the vision faded and Gulshan was standing alone, eyes still dazzled by the Glory.

It was 4 am. Everything was normal in the room, windows and door firmly locked.

Had she imagined the episode?
No, the proof was her healed body. Her limbs were plump with new flesh!

Full of joy, she praised God and walked around the bedroom. Her Aunty knocked on the door asking,

"Who is that walking in your room?"

"It's me Aunty!"

"That's impossible. You can't walk. You're lying."

"Well come and see."

Seeing the new Gulshan, the household were filled with wonder. The evidence was irrefutable.

Jesus had healed Gulshan, and sent her to the world as His witness.

People came from far and wide to see the walking miracle of Christ. Each one wanted to hear the story firsthand. How, the night her father died, a voice told her to read about Jesus in the Quran. That she obeyed and prayed to Jesus for three years, more and more desperately, until He appeared and healed her by His Word.

Soon afterwards, Jesus led her to obtain a Holy Bible, and reading the New Testament, (Injil) she gave her heart to Christ, and was born again.

The new believer was baptised in water as Christ instructs, and grew into a powerful preacher of the Gospel.

Many hardships followed as a result of her bold witness. Because she renounced Islam and became a Christian, she was disinherited by her family, and thrown onto the street. She faced death-threats, and a period in prison.

Today she is based in England, and has testified of Christ in evangelistic crusades alongside the world's foremost preachers.

You can read the full account of her miracle in The Torn Veil upon which this review is based. Every Muslim ought to read Gulshan's phenomenal story in full.

Are you a precious Muslim?

It is not by chance that you are reading this, God is reaching out to lead you from the bondage of religion, into the wonderful liberty of Christ.

Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son, you will know true peace with God, and receive total forgiveness of sins.

If you are infirm in any way, understand that God has no favourites. He wants to heal you, just as He healed the man by the Pool of Bethesda, just as He healed Gulshan.

Jesus told both of them to stand up and walk. Dare to believe Christ says that to you now.

"Stand up and walk in Jesus' Name!"

Put your whole trust in the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ, and His Life will turn your weakness into His strength.

Get up from your chair, get out of your bed. Do what you couldn't do before.

Just believe!

God, in His mercy, gave Gulshan a vision of Christ to stir her faith into action. You don't need a vision from God, you have something better. His written Word, a contract based on faith for anyone who dares to believe.

He sent forth his word and healed them.
Ps. 107:20

Jesus Christ is the Living Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God ... the Word became Flesh and made his dwelling among us.
Jn. 1:1+14

When Jesus was crucified, He took your place. He died bearing your sins, so that when you believe in Him, you can be forgiven.

God says that Jesus also bore your sicknesses and your infirmities.

He took our infirmities, and carried our diseases.
Mtt. 8:17

Why did He do this?
So that when you believe in Him, you can be completely healed, delivered, and saved. That's why God tells believers,

By his wounds you have been healed.
1 Pe. 2:24

Notice, it doesn't say believers are going to be healed someday. It declares you have been healed. Believe that. Count on God's Word.

In His presence there is fullness of joy, and complete redemption for all, through the precious Blood of the Son of God.

Receive Jesus as Lord, Saviour and Healer now;
Act on God's truth. Ignore symptoms, feelings and circumstances, and begin to obey Christ's Word now.
