COMMIT YOUR LIFE TO GOD

By Paul Dhinakaran

Dearly beloved,

Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you." (Joshua 3:5). Accordingly, this New Year, sanctify yourselves. Then the Lord will do great things, signs and wonders in your midst.

How to sanctify yourself?

The Bible advises, “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders” (I Thessalonians 4:11,12). ‘Quiet life’ denotes a life that is lived by committing ourselves to the Lord for His will to be fulfilled in our lives.

Dear ones, this New Year, do not worry over your future. Instead, live quietly and wait for the will of God. Completely commit yourself to Him and walk in faith. Then the flame shall not scorch you. The waters shall not overflow you. In the midst of these, there shall be new ways which you never knew before. You shall be saved.

The most painful thing that we see in this world is criticism. Apostle Paul advises us not to do that but mind our own business. When two sisters in a family fight with each other, the younger one cannot hit the elder one and so says, “Mind your own business.” The Lord tells us the same thing: “My son/daughter, I have kept a work for you. Don’t leave that and keep looking at others’ work. Look after the work that I have given you.”

In order to hear His voice, we need to get up early in the morning and pray. Joshua rose early in the morning and prayed. He sought the Lord even when it was dark. Lord Jesus sought the Father early in the morning. Isaac and Abraham did the same and got answers. The Lord showed them the way saying, “This is the path in which you need to walk.” You too should seek Him early in the morning. Then He will talk to you so as to show you the new path that He has for you. For this, there should be fasting, prayer and family prayer. When you observe all these three things in your life, this New Year, the Lord will reveal the plan that He has for you.

The Bible says, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Lord Jesus is the Light. When we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. His blood shall cleanse us from our sins.
