In 2 Samuel 8:6, the Bible says concerning David, “He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.”
In Jeremiah 1:8,19, we see the Lord comforting Jeremiah, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you…They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you.” The Lord who promised to protect Jeremiah will certainly protect you.
Once, we as a family went to Kashmir. We were taken to a place called ‘Gulmark’ in the Himalayas. Mist covered the entire place and it was very cold. We were given specially-made coats to beat the cold. We were told that if we wanted to go up the mountain, we had to go on horseback. We were a little afraid when we heard that because we doubted if my father could go on horseback. We were also scared what might happen to us if the horse slipped. The guide said, “Don’t be afraid! I will come with you. Nothing will happen.”
The path was a treacherous one and the horse had to go in the snow. We were afraid as the horse placed each step. We came near a big valley and the horse on which my father went suddenly slipped. But the next moment, to our surprise, the guide pounced on the horse and held it. The horse stopped! He would have had a great fall from the mountain if it had slipped a little more. The guide laughingly said, “Sir, why were you frightened? I told you I am with you.”
If a man could say such things with such belief and could save a person according to his words, how much more our Lord could preserve us? He assures us, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20). When God is on our side, no one can stand against us. Yes, He preserves us.
Apostle Paul says, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom” (2 Timothy 4:18). God is our eternal refuge. He will save us from troubles in this world and bring us safely into His eternal kingdom.
The Lord, mighty and powerful beyond measure, promises to abide with you forever until eternity. Hence do not fear. Trust in His power and pray for His divine protection. He shall keep you safe in His arms.
