Dearly beloved, on
this special day, let us remember the supreme sacrifice of our Lord Jesus
Christ. He shed His blood on the Cross for us. He gave His life for us so that
we may live forever.
A wealthy merchant once had to face a sudden financial disaster. His wife left him just then. All his friends forsook him. He became the victim of a dreadful disease and was admitted in a hospital. He experienced bitter pain in body and mind.
On waking up every morning, he would cry: “Everyone in this world has forsaken me. There is none to love me.” One morning, he heard a lovely song. He opened the door and came down with much difficulty and walked in the direction from where the music came. In a small church, he saw a small group singing:
“God will take care of you, be not afraid.
He is your safeguard through sunshine and shade:
Tenderly watching and keeping His own,
He will not leave you to wander alone.”
The words soothed his bruised heart. A wave of hope filled his entire being. He was thrilled to know that God took care of him when all others forsook him. At that very moment, a power passed into his body like a charge of electric current. He was healed perfectly. Enraptured, he went home and resumed his business.
The Lord blessed him and prospered his business. It revived and became a soaring success. Today, he is one of the wealthiest men in the world. The Lord wants to do this to you also! So be not dismayed! He says, "I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).
And so, dearly beloved! “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6,7).
The Bible says, “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not” (Isaiah 53:3). He was wounded. Today, He is anxious to bind our wounds! He offers to take the responsibility for us even if our father and mother were to abandon us.
The Bible says, “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted” (Isaiah 53:4). Lord Jesus bore our sicknesses and carried our sorrows. Let us believe in Him. He will grant us the gift of salvation to us. He shall deliver from our afflictions and grant us perfect peace.
